Supply Chain Digest suggests that receiving Advanced Shipping Notifications (ASNs) can reduce receiving costs by up to 40 percent, making it no surprise that many retailers, including Ocado, are now mandating that these documents are automatically sent by suppliers.
By sending ASNs, retailers are automatically notified when deliveries have been dispatched and the items that are being delivered, giving customers (e.g retailers) the visibility they need to react, plan and improve their inventory management. Suppliers also benefit from adding value to the relationship and from the visibility of deliveries.
This improvement in visibility and efficiency is why we are delighted to support suppliers in meeting these mandates quickly, with our EDI and non-EDI solution for ASNs. OmPrompt’s ASN offering is designed to help suppliers respond quickly and accurately to pressure from customers to share ASNs. The solution is delivered as a managed service, so suppliers don’t have to absorb the challenges of EDI onboarding, testing, deployment and management activities. OmPrompt helps clients go further than just transactional excellence and intelligently leverages ASN data in ways that help improve OTIF and reduce operational costs.
ASN use is becoming more and more accepted as a standard way to share shipment information with customers. ASNs are becoming a key component of enabling suppliers to drive down their own costs and collaborate even further with their customers.
